PAPPA GOLF DAY SET TO TEE-UP A BUMPER CASH BOOST FOR CHARITY!

Property professionals will be hitting the fairways for an annual golf tournament and gala dinner – and teeing up a healthy cash donation for charity at the same time.

China Fleet Country Club in Saltash is hosting this year’s event, organised by the Plymouth Area Property Professionals Association (PAPPA), which will take place on Friday 18th May.

Teams comprising of PAPPA members, as well as their friends and clients, will take part in a four ball challenge that is always a highlight in the association’s events calendar.

The tournament – which was first staged in 2006 – will be followed by an evening charity dinner with disco and raffle at China Fleet to raise funds for PAPPA’s adopted charities, Horizons Children’s Sailing Charity and Friends and Families of Special Children Ltd.

Ben Dreher, PAPPA chairman, said the annual golf day and dinner was well supported by members – and always keenly contested.

“There’s a lot of friendly rivalry among our membership and everyone wants to come out on top in the golf to win the bragging rights for the next 12 months,” said Ben.

“Equally, we see some tremendous generosity too, which I know will help us to raise a bumper cash total for two very important local charities.”

Horizons Children’s Sailing Charity was formed in 1991 with the aim of building links with communities, schools and families in areas of social deprivation in Plymouth to offer a range of sailing activities.

Every year, the charity provides in excess of 3,000 sessions for young people, aged 8 – 19, helping them to improve their social and practical skills, as well as increasing their self- confidence.

Last year’s golf event helped to raise £2,000 for Horizons and PAPPA will once again be supporting the charity along with Friends and Families of Special Children Ltd, a new beneficiary to the organisation.

Also based in Plymouth, it is a non-profit organisation which provides information, support and services for families with disabled children, including social and leisure events.

One of the main providers of integrated leisure services in Plymouth, it is run by a team of professionals from a range of backgrounds, covering social work, youth work, counselling, law, finance and corporate hospitality.
